Afghanistan National Television (shortened ''ANTV'') was a television channel, broadcasting in Afghanistan, and was launched in 1974, closed in 1996, re-launched in 2002, and then closed again in 2010. ==History== The original channel was launched in 1974 along with its sister channel, RTA. When the Mujahideen took power in 1992, the television station was disused. When the Taliban rose into power, the Taliban government in 1996 banned TV, and they went and destroyed the television station. ANTV was closed down. However, the national TV archives were saved. When the Taliban's rule was over, the television station was re-launched just a year later in 2002. The headquarters' building in Kabul that was destroyed by the Taliban was rebuilt by Germans, which had support over ANTV.
